I personally think this might be a bit too early for an August favourites post, but these are the types of videos and blogs that I love. Especially since it tells you a lot of in-depth information about products that one has been loving for the past month. It’s also a great opportunity for me to look back and see what products have made a shined through and impressed me. Some people might not think this is a lot of favourites to have for a month, besides, I wanted to start of simple.
LJH Tea Tree 90 Essence
I mentioned this product in my skincare routine post, where I talked about how this is holy-grail for me. That still stands; this product continues to amaze me every day that I use it. My skin hasn’t been the best recently (honestly) due to diet and lack of exercise, but this product has been helping that out. The duration of my breakouts, mild or serious, has been dramatically reduced. Pimples that would usually hang around on my face for weeks are now barely visible after days. I can’t forget to mention how this product does not dry me out at all, after using it, my skin feels nicely refreshed and hydrated. Although I haven’t been paying much attention to it, I think this has been helping with oil control since my skin has been feeling more on the normal side rather than oily.
Lorac Pro Contour Palette
This is technically my first contour palette, I ordered the Anastasia contour kit but once it arrived, I knew it wasn’t for me and I sold it on. I was tempted to try out the Kat Von D contour kit since it was highly raved about but then Lorac brought their own Contour palette and since I love and never been disappointed by their eyeshadows, I decided to give it a go. For those in the UK wondering how I got my hands on this, a helpful US redditor on MUE brought this from Ulta and kindly sent it over to me. I love this palette so much because it’s so blendable. Being fair, I struggle to get the right contour shade that doesn’t look too harsh. This palette works so perfectly for my skin; I love alternating between using the medium and light contour shades to bronze up my skin but they also work well with the Nars ita brush to carve out my cheek bones. The dark contour is too dark for me to use for contouring, but rather than it going to waste, it works perfectly as an eyeshadow shade in the crease. The highlighting shades work amazingly too; I use the beige highligher just below my cheek contour to define it, the yellow highligher shade works great at brightening the under eye area and doesn’t look too yellow, the shimmer highligher gives me a lovely natural glow along the tops of my cheek bones, down my nose, center of forehead and on top of the cupid’s bow. I’ve never used the brush that came with the palette and I have no intentions to either, it’s too dense for my liking and I’m worried it won’t give me the soft contoured appearance that I love.
Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed - Champagne Pop
I don’t even know where to begin with this highligher. I hesitated at first but I really don’t know why. I’ve only recently got into highlighting my skin, but I’m glad I’ve been experimenting with it since I’ve been loving that healthy glow. Having oily skin made me pretty scared to highlight since I didn’t want to look any more oily that I already am, but seeing as a create a pretty solid matte base, giving my skin highlight in the right places makes me glow and not become oily or wet-looking. When I heard Jaclyn Hill talk about this product, I wasn’t completely sure until she mentioned how it looked stunning on her fair-skinned sister. When I checked out Rachel’s blog post about it, I instantly fell in love with the way it looked on her skin and wanted to try it out. I wasn’t disappointed.
L'oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara - Waterproof
I’ve only previously stayed loyal to Benefit’s They’re Real and Maybelline’s The Falsies mascaras until I wanted to try something new. I’ve heard many good things about the L’oreal mascaras, so I decided to have a look and picked up the Volume Million Lashes. I always tend to go for waterproof mascaras since from my experience, they always hold the curl of the lash for much longer than non-waterproof. Now, this mascara is out of this world. It creates this beautiful, separated, voluminous set of lashes, which is just perfect for me and they stay in place all day - always a bonus! So far, L’oreal, I’m impressed and I’m pretty excited to try out other mascaras by them too.
Real Techniques Duo Fibre Brush - Face Brush
These Duo Fibre Brushes have been sat in my collection unused for months, I loved the appearance of them when I first brought them but I never found a suitable use for them. That was until, I wanted a brush to help me create a subtle, soft bronzed appearance. I gave this a go and it was exactly was I was looking for. The bristles pick up just the right amount of product so it’s easy to build up if I want to deepen up the bronze. It blends out the product perfectly too! I haven’t found much use for the contour brush in this set but the eye brush works very well to add a soft blended crease shade.
Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipsticks - 650 Nude Embrace & 655 Darling Nude
I really really don’t understand why these haven’t been released in the UK yet. The formula of these lipsticks are so smooth and so creamy, they’re so perfect for everyday and not over drying at all! I only own these shades plus Touch of Spice but I’ve been switching between these 2 nudes for my everyday lip colour all month. Nude Embrace is what I would describe as a browny nude and Darling Nude is more of a pink nude. They’re not very long lasting, but they’re still very comfortable to wear.
So those were my favourites for this month! Do you have any favourite products of this month? I actually really enjoyed writing this and I probably rambled on too much about some products but thanks for baring with me! Thank you for all the love and support from opening my blog, it has really got me excited to blog a bit more. Although, I’m pretty unsure on how often I want to blog; I’m currently doing 1 blog a week but I might try and post 2 blogs next week. What do you think?
