I feel like I should firstly apologise for being absent for so long and having no blogs or many updates. University has recently become the bane of my life, with about 4 months remaining until graduation, everything has started to feel pretty real and scary. I have my dissertation due in under 3 weeks and then my exams begin next month too. So expect not many updates between now and graduation but I’ll try my best, especially since I have so much planned for this blog too!
I’ve been spending many of my days recently in the library getting work done, although sometimes I do go wearing very little or no make up at all, I’ve begun having a little routine when I do want to make a little more effort without going “full glam”. If anything, it’s a few tricks to help me look like I’ve had 9 hours sleep rather than 5…
Sometimes I’ll apply primer and sometimes I won’t. If I do, then I tend to wear Benefit’s Porefessional primer; it’s some extra effort to hide those pores and helps my make up stay on all day. I would then apply my Laneige pore control bb cushion in no. 13, which I absolutely love! It’s the perfect shade for me and what I love most is that it’s so quick and easy to apply. Most days it really doesn’t take me long to apply this and blend it out. To conceal, I would use the Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer in Fair Neutral, this is actually my second tube of this now. I love this so much for concealing my dark undereyes and give them some brightness. Gives me much good coverage and feels so light on the skin too! This is the perfect product to make me look like I’ve had more sleep than I actually have. Finally, to set everything in I use the Kiko Matte Fusion Pressed Powder in 04 Honey, this is a pretty new product for me and I hope to do a full review of this after I’ve used it more. So far, I’ve been loving it, it keeps my makeup in place all day and I tend to stay matte for a lot longer too!
I’m one of those types of people who likes to contour everyday. I’m not ashamed of that at all! Sometimes I feel like I need some depth and dimension to my face to give it some life and avoid it looking so flat! I’ve been loving the Makeup Geek Contour Powder Pan in Break up. This is by far one of the best contour powders I’ve ever used, it blends out so smoothly and I love how I can apply a small amount to look a little natural or build it up to create a more chiseled look. For blush, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Mood Exposure has been a really beautiful shade for me to wear everyday and it gives me a slight glow too which I love! The shade is really universal and I feel like it goes with any lip colour or any eye look that I’ve been pairing with it!
Eyes + Brows
I’ve been loving a nice simple eye look recently. I’ve been applying Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Pan in Barcelona Beach to my crease and then Shimma Shimma to my lid, sometimes I’ll add Mocha to my crease too if I want some extra dimension. This has been perfect for me and I feel like this also contributes to making me look more awake! I’ve been using the Koji Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner in Dark Brown recently and I’ve been loving the subtle, natural effect it gives without looking super harsh. Then for eyelashes, I would curl them using the Shiseido Eyelash curler and then apply the L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes Mascara in Black Waterproof. This combo has always been a favourite of mine, keeps my eyelashes curled and looking extra black and long all day. I could never fault either of these products! As for eyebrows, I picked up the Soap And Glory 2-in-1 Brow Filling Pencil & Brush in Hot Chocolate the other day and it’s been so ideal for me. It’s very quick and easy to apply and it’s been the perfect colour for me when I want to go a little extra bold.
My lip colour varies from day to day. Almost any lip colour would go with this look, I’ve been pairing it with reds to plums to nudes. My go-to lip colour has been the Girlatik Matte Lip Paint in Bashful, which is a lovely nude colour that wears perfectly throughout the day.
I’m curious to know what are your favourite products to use on your simple makeup days!?
