I do hope to blog more often again soon, but currently university life has been stressful and hectic so getting a few hours to sit down and blog can be difficult sometimes. Especially if I have a presentation the following day and an essay due for next week. But as I was walking back from university today, I couldn’t help but notice that it was such a beautiful autumns day with the sun shining and the leaves turning orange. I feel like a lot of people say they love autumn, and it annoys me to some extent with how much I hear it. But when it comes down to it, I love autumn too and it’s my favourite season. The transition into winter is settling; I love getting my scarfs out and wrapping up in blankets. Most of all, what I love about autumn, is wearing those gorgeous “fall-appropriate” shades. I wanted to share with you the top 5 lipsticks, in no particular order, that I’ve been reaching for this autumn.
I get the impression that this lipstick is one of those must-haves for most people especially for the autumn time. I wore this a lot last autumn and although I haven’t worn it as much this year, it’s definitely a shade I love going for. It’s quite funny that this is the only lipstick in this top 5 that isn’t a matte finish, it’s a satin finish but most of the time I brush over a translucent powder to create a matte finish. If you’re after a gorgeous staple pink-plum colour that isn’t too bold, pick this up. I also love pairing this up with Mac’s Nightmoth to create a lovely ombre lip.
Girlactik Matte Lip Paint in Demure
I brought this awhile back and I believe this shade is now called Divine. I think girlactik renamed this shade and brought out a different colour for demure. I would describe this shade as a dark dusty rose with slight brown undertones, it’s such a beautiful and unique colour. This colour has got to be my current favourite shade and I can’t stop wearing it. It’s that perfect dusty rose but because it’s slightly dark it fits in perfectly for autumn. I also love these lip paints because they stay on for most of the day but don’t dry out my lips or become flaky.
Urban Decay Matte Revolution Lipstick in 1993
I was quite surprised when I picked out this shade because it’s a very medium brown shade with a subtle rose undertone; this isn’t a colour I wouldn’t normally go for. But it was the influence of heyclaire that pushed me to try it out. I’ve been loving this lipstick, it’s a very comfortable matte to wear on the lips and once again, it’s not drying at all and it has a lovely creamy texture. I almost don’t think this is a complete matte lipstick because it does have a slightly sheen to it. This has definitely been a stable shade for me and probably will be for quite a while.
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Aria
I think the formula for the Stila liquid lipsticks are very similar to the Girlactik ones in terms that they’re very comfortable to wear, stay on most of the day and don’t dry out my lips. Both Stila and Girlactik are my favourite liquid lipstick formulas and I’ll definitely be purchasing more shades. Aria is a very similar colour to Rebel but it’s a lot more opaque and matte, but they’re very similar plum colours, I would say that Aria leans more towards purple-plum and Rebel leans more towards pink-plum.
Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Mattes Lipstick in Divine Wine
I talked about how much I loved the formula of these lipsticks in my August favourites and about a week after that post they released them in the UK! I decided to pick up this perfect burgundy red shade, which I really enjoy wearing to match any burgundy shades that I’m wearing – since burgundy is pretty much the only colour I wear. For me, this is the perfect shade of red that I love to wear in the autumn time.
I hope you enjoyed my top 5 autumn lipsticks! What are your favourites?
